Effect of Microcredit on Profit Efficiency of Small-Scale Poultry Farmers Oyo State, Nigeria

This study investigated the effect of microcredit on profit efficiency small-scale poultry farmers in Oyo State. Multistage sampling procedure was used to select two hundred for study. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics, Heckman selection model, stochastic frontier and Tobit models. Result from statistics showed that men (78%) are predominantly involved production. The average age area is approximately 43 years. Most married (77.5%) literate (80.5%). Furthermore, most respondents (73.5%) had access with 87.5% belonging one farmer’s association or other. two-stage model revealed membership cooperative/farmer’s contact extension agent significant factors influencing microcredit. second stage reveals age, years education, household size, farming experience, distance source microcredit, timeliness stock size amount obtained by farmers. Results smallholder an 54.0% (Model 1) results interest rate loan repayment period significantly influenced while formal experience efficiency. two-side censored suggest variables favourable line action. suggested policy makers should ensure available through agricultural credit programmes get needy
